When new developments are proposed, whether residential, commercial, or industrial, they bring opportunities for growth and improvement to communities. However, they also bring potential challenges, particularly concerning traffic congestion and road safety. This is where a Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) comes into play. A TIA is an essential tool that help planners, developers, and local authorities understand the potential effects of new developments on existing transportation networks. The TIA is a comprehensive study that evaluates the potential effects a new development may have on the existing transportation network. It considers factors such as increased traffic volumes, changes in traffic patterns, and potential impacts on road safety. The goal of a TIA is to ensure that any new development contributes positively to the community without causing undue stress to the local traffic system.
We begin each Traffic Impact Analysis by communicating with all relevant stakeholders including the client, site engineer, and governmental agencies at the state and local level to obtain all available information to establish a thorough understanding of the project. Project methodology and scope is determined, data is collected, analysis is performed using various software (including SYNCHRO/SimTraffic and SIDRA), and impacts are identified. Pending results, improvements will be proposed and the findings compiled into a technical report.
